One of the things I love about living in the Sacramento area are all the beautiful trails and watering holes. Let me preface this by saying I am no Cheryl Strayed with a kid in tow on these trails. We are not experts, but we have learned a few things about hitting the trails with a toddler. It is not about the miles or completing the trail, and more about taking it all in. Enjoying all of Luna's Ah's and Oh's along the way. As soon as we got on the bridge to start our walk, I instantly felt a rush of excitement. Right then, I realized this is exactly what we needed.
We packed up one backpack and as soon as we found a good spot, the three of us perched on rocks facing the water and enjoyed a delicious homemade lunch. Afterwards there was a lot of wading in the water, and standing like a flamingo per Luna's request. The water was cold, but it felt invigorating. It was the best afternoon we've had in a long time.
We didn't take many photos after lunch as we continued back on the trail because sometimes it is best to completely disconnect. Now that the weather is cooling down, I foresee many more trail explorations. Happy Fall days are here again!
