Muir Woods

One of my favorite places on earth is Muir Woods (and Muir Overlook). It was finally Luna's time to explore the beauty of the woods.  Muir Woods is a wonderful place for kids and can easily be done in a few hours.  Here are a few tips for a great family outing to Muir Woods:

Arrive early or arrive after lunch time. We arrived around 12:30 which was awesome.  We got good parking and some of the morning visitors were leaving.  

Include the kids in the process by printing this free ranger booklet. This is a fun way to keep them entertained and informed. 

I would suggest packing a backpack. We took light sweaters because it gets chilly, water bottles and food.  There is the Muir Woods Café right before you start the trail, but it gets a little crazy and the food is no different than what you could make at home.  We opted to save our money and bellies for a great meal in the city afterwards.  This is what I ate...yummy!

Bay Area Discovery Museum + Inner Sunset

We recently took one of many upcoming day-trips to San Francisco.  My friend Heather at Farm Tots suggested we visit the Bay Area Discovery Museum, and she was not kidding because it blew our minds.  If you are planning an upcoming trip to the bay area with your kiddos, you have to add this to your itinerary.   

We stayed at the museum almost till closing because it was that good.  Afterwards we crossed the bridge into the Golden Gate-Inner Sunset neighborhood for dinner and an evening walk before heading home.  We had dinner at Nopalito which was delicious.  I had the Caldo Tlalpeño con Pollo (I wish I could have it right now).  Then we headed to Green Apple Books which is one of my favorite bookstores. 

Day-trips are a great way to reset when you need to feed your wanderlust dreams so get out and explore.   

Muir Beach + Sausalito + SF

This past weekend we headed to the bay, and its one of my favorite trips we've taken so far.  Our first stop was to Muir Beach Overlook, and the ton of photos I have seen do not give this place justice because it is even more breathtaking in person. 

From Muir Beach we headed to Sausilito to explore and enjoy a delicious lunch at Fish. 

Then over the Golden Gate Bridge we went and into our favorite city! Our friends recommended we stay at Club Quarters.  We normally stay at the Omni SF, and it was good to find a new spot.  I definitely recommend Club Quarters for families.  

Our first stop when we are in the city is always to the Ferry Building.  My husband is addicted to these sandwiches at Cowgirl Creamery, and my favorite spots are gluten-free bakery Mariposa and Delica SF.  I also have to mention Stone Korean Kitchen which we grabbed takeout from on our way back to our room and it did not disappoint. 

Our room had a small deck and a pretty decent view! We are planning to keep this as our go-to room especially when Luna is with us. 

Our last day, we had a late breakfast at Dolores Park Cafe, and spent the afternoon in Dolores Park.  Luna had french toast for the first time and got to play her heart out in the park.  She was in heaven!

Our weekend was super chill.  I love when we make no plans and skip on the tourist stuff in the city because it can end up an exhausting weekend if you go that route. We prefer to take it easy and get to know different areas of the bay.
