Lendy Lately

Friday, July 28, 2017

Happy Friday! What have you been up to lately? I have been embracing summer as much as possible, but I'm not going to lie, I cannot wait for summer to be over. Though, I googled last day of summer and we still have two months to go. So lets take it one day at a time fellow summer haters, and for all you summer lovers hand me a frosé and point me to the nearest air conditioning unit. Aside from summer survival mode, here's a little of what I've been up to lately...

I have been reading vegetarian/vegan books, especially after watching What The Health. I really like Forks Over Knives Family cookbook and Main Street Vegan.

The Bachelorette sucked me in as always, and I am hoping she picks Peter.  Another show I have been watching is Friends from College

I listen to The Daily every day, Up and Vanished is eerily good and DAIS by Rachel Hollis

I have been working my way through some recipes on my vegetarian Pinterest board and mostly eating buddha bowls like this one for lunch.

The politics we are living through are a hot mess which I know is a huge understatement. I have been sending faxes to my representatives via Resistbot

I am counting down to the solar eclipse that will take place on my birthday, August 21st! Here's what you'll see where you live

Last but not least, if you follow my Instagram stories, then you know I have also been working my butt off at Orangetheory Fitness.

I'd love to hear what you've been up to lately? What are you reading? Listening to? Obsessing over?

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Friday Favorites

Friday, July 7, 2017

Happy Friday! What are you up to this weekend?  It's been a long short week for us, but we're finally at the end of it. This weekend we have a cleared slate which is nice.  Of course we will be doing some pool lounging and a whole lotta nothing.  Hope you have a wonderful weekend, and here are this week's favorites...

Favorite Quote: Start each day with a dance party-via Hungry Digital Media. This is a good idea all year long! We have our own family Spotify station which we play every morning.  It really does help set the tone for our day.

Favorite Accessory: $9 buck Panama Hat -via Walmart.  I've always been a hat girl, but hats and mommy-ing can be tricky.  So you gotta mix it up with some cheap hats that you won't mind tossing in the car, in the shopping cart or having your babes steal them. It's a rare occasion that I trek over to Walmart and when I do I realize they have some decent finds up in that mother! Haha!  I went in to check out Drew Barrymore's Flower Beauty line and picked this eyeliner and this primer as well.

Favorite Shoes: Nike Slides -via Nike.com.  I never thought I was a slide girl until I got me some fakenstocks (haha!) then I understood the appeal of sliding my foot in a sandal and running out the door. So when I slid my foot into some Nike slides it was an Aha! moment.
Favorite Swimsuit: Laser Cut Tankini -via Target.  Confessional: I am not a bathing suit/summer girl. So for me to say this is my favorite swimsuit means A LOT.  My girlfriend and I have completely different body types and both tried this on and loved it.  I like that you can pick your bottoms so I also bought these high-waist bottoms
Favorite Recipe to Try: Sweet Potato & Grilled Portabello Tacos -via Cocoon Cooks. Ever since I watched the What the Health documentary on Netflix I have been eating a la vegetarian style. I am leaning to eating as plant-based as possible, and tacos like this make it happen!
Favorite Manicure: Chanel nail polish in Emeraude.  If you're buying hats at Walmart and swimsuits from Target, you totally deserve a summer nail polish splurge.  I have been eyeing a lot of green tones, and this one is pretty. Can you imagine it under the water with your new swimsuit.  I also like the color Espadrilles
Favorite Song: If I say Despacito everyone's heads may explode, but guess what who cares! If you're anti-Beiber, then stick to the original

Looking Back at 2015

Wednesday, January 6, 2016

In 2015, I wanted to be more adventurous especially for Luna's sake, and we definitely accomplished our goal. We did not conquer air travel yet, but we definitely went on a lot of fun adventures.  My favorite experience of 2015 was our Oregon vacation in Portland and Newport.  Our trips to Southern California were great too, and our end of the year trip to San Luis Obispo
My biggest accomplishment of 2015 was running outdoors! I had been running on the treadmill, and always dreamed of being a real runner, and in 2015 I became a runner.
I kept my healthy eating streak all year, and my favorite meal of 2015 may not be what you would expect given all the meals I post on my Instagram like this and this, but if I had to choose, it would be my broccoli slaw a la huevos ranchero style with salsa and a fried egg on top.
Every year I try to beat the number of books I read the year prior, and I don't think I beat out 2014, but the adventures over reading were worth it.  My favorite book of 2015 would have to be The Girl On The Train.
As far as movies are concerned, I did not watch many new movies so I do not have a favorite for 2015.  My favorites mostly revolve around Luna's reaction, since she loves to dance, Footloose was a hit in our house.  I have to mention my favorite show of 2015 is hands down The Killing.
It was an incredible year for my family and I, and even though I loved looking back at our experiences, now it is time to close that chapter.  Thank you for the memories, see ya 2015!

Fitness Favorites

Wednesday, August 5, 2015

Since I have been on a consistent fitness streak, its a great time to share my current fitness favorites.

Workout Clothes

I hate wearing an armband for my phone, and once I discovered these leggings I was sold! Unfortunately, I have only found them at TJ Maxx which can be a hit or miss.  I also own these leggings with pockets from Forever 21.

On colder days I love this Nike Dri-Fit long sleeve, and on all other days I recommend these Victoria Secret Pink tees because they are soft, lightweight and hold their form after numerous washings.

I have a few sports bras, but none are as good as the Moving Comfort sports bra.

Shoes

I rotate between two pairs of Nike Free 5.0's  because it is good for your feet and helps prevent injuries.

Water/Blender Bottles

I have tried several water bottles, and this stainless steal bottle is my favorite. It keeps my water cool and it doesn't get stinky! We have quite a collection of Blender Bottles too.

Supplements

I take these Garden of Life organic multi-vitamins twice daily. As you may have noticed, I am a big fan of Vega products. I drink the pre-workout in acai berry flavor, the recovery accelerator in tropical flavor, and the vanilla protein shake. Since I eat limited carbs, I love the Garden of Life Super Seed which I add to my shakes.

Music

I do not use a separate music player because I rely on my iPhone for everything!  I have several play lists and this is one of my go-to's workout play list on Spotify.

Post-Workout Products

For my face, I am all about Ole Henriksen products. I use this Physicians Formula tinted moisturizer daily unless I am going somewhere fancy then I bust out the full on makeup kit.

My hair is fairly dry, therefore, I do not wash it everyday.  On wash days I am loving Shea Moisture products. On no-wash days, I spray my hair with Shea Moisture Organic Coconut Mist, brush it through and style it.

For my body, I use coconut oil to shave my legs and moisturize.  I prefer to use body oils to moisturize like sweet almond oil, avocado oil and lavender oil

If you have some favorite fitness and post-workout products, please let me know.  I would love to try out new products.
