Friday Favorites

Friday, April 13, 2018

What are you up to this weekend? We are hosting some friends over for dinner tomorrow and Sunday we will be partying hard with 5 year olds.  I still have no idea what I am going to make for dinner, but I like to stick to a few of my specialities. What do you like to make for dinner for friends? My golden rule is I'll cook you bring the drinks and dessert.  Hope you have a wonderful weekend, here are this week's favorites...

Favorite Quote: There are seasons for hustle and seasons for slow. Both are equally important. I have been pondering on my hustle, and I decided to give myself permission to have a slow season.  Yup, just like that.  If you need a permission slip write one up for yourself.
Favorite Podcast: Forever 35. These ladies will make you laugh and they have the ability to make any woman listening feel like a face mask will soothe our bad days.
Favorite Outfit: Wrap Blouse-via Asos. Point me in the direction of all the wrap blouses.  I have been wearing wrap blouses on the regular.  They are comfortable and feminine which is right up my ally.  This one and this one are pretty too.
Favorite Fun: Disco Balls-via Design Sponge. If you want to add some pizazz to your kitchen dancing and blow your kids minds--invest in a disco ball.  I found ours at the 99 cent store.  I paid $3.99 so if you have one near you go get one!  Here's a similar one.
Favorite Beauty: Elf Lip Tint in Perfect Pink. I got this after I heard Lauren share about it and its perfect to carry with you at all times.  It reacts with the chemistry of your lips for a personalized shade of pink.
Favorite Food: Cream Cheese Pancakes-via I Breath I'm Hungry.  These are keto and gluten free so basically they are free.  Ha! Go ahead and make yourself another permission slip to enjoy these!
Favorite Music: Corazon by Maluma...mainly because hearing Luna sing the Spanish and Portuguese is everything.

6 Podcasts I love

Wednesday, September 21, 2016

It has been awhile since I listed some of my favorite podcasts.  Here's a link to my original Top 8 podcasts.  I wanted to share a few more that I have been listening to.

Radiolab Presents: More Perfect. This podcast focuses on the Supreme Court and shares cases and how they were deliberated.  I always dreamt of being a judge and if you are also a legal beagel at heart this will speak to you.  Its so good!

Super Mamas Podcast is a mom (women) empowerment podcast and it should not come at any surprise that this made it on my list. They touch on the Latino culture, raising kids and showcase other inspirational mom bosses. Even if you are not a Latina, you should still check it out.
The Charged Life with Brendon Burchard is a podcast about motivation, success and living a charged life.  I always feel empowered to tackle whatever I have going on after listening to Brendon.

Coffee + Crumbs Podcast came about from the Coffee + Crumbs collaborative blog about motherhood.  This is a new podcast great for all moms.

In The Thick is a political podcast from the perspective of changing America.  This is one of my favorites hands down.  I have a political and legal background, and believe we should all be informed about what is going on in the political arena.

Meditation Oasis is a wonderful free podcast that provides great guided meditation. I set the timer on my phone, put on my sleep phones and the Relax into Sleep Guided Meditation always soothes me to sleep.

Friday Favorites

Friday, July 1, 2016

Happy July! What are you up to this holiday weekend? My goal this weekend is to enjoy having my husband back with us.  Whatever we do will be great now that the three musketeers are whole again.  Hope you have a wonderful and safe Fourth of July weekend, and here are this week's favorites...

Favorite Quote: If you want to change the world, go home and love your family.-Mother Teresa.  With so much bad going on in the world this simple advice is the best advice.
Favorite Podcast: Beautiful Anonymous is one of my new favorites.  I listen to several podcasts, and I love that this one is easy to get into.
Favorite Blouse: Madewell Off the Shoulder Cotton Top -via Nordstrom. I like that they paired it with white jeans which would look great for 4th of July, and any summer day for that matter.
Favorite Dessert: Meyer Lemon Tart (with gluten free crust) -via Cup of Jo/Sassy Kitchen. I wish I had that missing slice right now!
Favorite Book: The Importance of Being Little by Erika Christakis.  I recently began reading this book, and since Luna will be starting preschool soon its fascinating to me.
Favorite Deal: Bath & Body Works 3-wick candle sale! I picked up a few of these candles, including the Rainforest Gardenia, and the pillow mists are also a must.
Favorite Song of the Week: Hold On by Wilson Phillips. This song was playing while my friend, Carrie, and I were in line to pay for our candles and we had a moment. Haha!

Top 8 Podcasts

Wednesday, April 22, 2015

One of the ways I relax or stay in tune as a stay at home mom is by listening to podcasts. I listen to at least one or two episodes during Luna's nap and while I am taking care of stuff around the house.  Also, as I have mentioned before we do not watch television during the week, therefore, listening to interesting stuff keeps me entertained and informed instead of sitting on the couch.

Below you will find my top 8 podcasts (in no particular order):

Undisclosed is a follow-up to the infamous Serial podcast. Slate's Parenting Podcast is self-explanatory and offers real parenting stories. Happier with Gretchen Rubin caught my eye because I have read her books, and I like the idea of being happier. The Productivity Show provides tips on how to be more productive in all aspects of your life.

Sleep with Me is a podcast to help you sleep, and I have listed it on my Friday Favorites as well as mentioned it several times. I am not a Game of Thrones fan, but surprisingly it still puts me to sleep. I use these at night and they help.  Invisibilia as indicated on the podcast is about the invisible forces that control human behavior. They tell real stories interwoven with scientific research. It is super interesting.  Dr. Laura is an old school lady with some honest talk. I was almost afraid of adding her podcast to this list but, I like her so there. Latino USA is geared towards learning about the latin culture, but even if you are not a Latino, they have some great episodes (music & history) you may still want to check it out.

Friday Favorites

Friday, January 23, 2015

It is Friday once again, and we made it through the week! Here are my favorites this week.

Favorite Podcast: I am a podcast fanatic, and Invisibilia is one of my favorites! Take a listen. It is so interesting...

Favorite Stay-at-Home mom outfit: Below is all clothing I own and it is my go to outfit. I pair these black jeggings with this tee and these as slippers on days that we stay indoors all day. Then on play-date/outing days, I pair my black jeggings with a simple long-sleeve or quarter length tee, a cardigan (with pockets--this is key) and my Nike's (I have two pairs and highly recommend these).  I bust out my favorite booties and a pretty blouse for girls night or date night.

Favorite Quote: "It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are." --EE Cummings. Well said.

Favorite Home product(s): Candles. I used to light candles at night only, but lately I light a few candles in the late morning to burn throughout the day. It makes our home smell great, and it makes me feel more relaxed while Luna is running around. I am usually into a woodsy or clean scents, but I am heading to buy some of these so I could imagine being on vacation!

Favorite meal this week: I forgot to take out protein for dinner--so some fried eggs on arugula salad with spices and Cholula--absolutely delicioso!

Favorite Moment: For those of you that follow me on Instagram/Facebook, I posted this video of Luna singing, and it made me so happy! Especially on a tiresome day...I needed a good laugh & smile.

Tonight we are ordering sushi and catching up on Celebrity Apprentice (we are going strong on our no television Monday through Thursday). How are your goals/resolutions going?

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!!!
