Friday Favorites

Friday, August 12, 2016

Hey Guys! What are you up to this weekend? Tonight we are going to a fun wine tasting party at our neighbor's house.  We are each bringing two bottles of the same wine and after the blind tastings, whoever brought the winning wine, gets to take all the bottles home. What a great idea, right!? Last weekend we were busy, and did not get much rest, so this weekend I am hoping for lazy mornings and pool time. Hope you have a wonderful weekend, and here are this week's favorites...

Favorite Quote: Never blow out someone's candle, to make yours brighter.-Chelsea Handler.

Favorite Accessory: Mermaid Crown -via Chelseas Flower Crowns.  Here's a cheap, but cute DIY version.  Lately, Luna has been into crowns (no surprise in toddler girl-land).  I think it would be fun to craft up some mermaid crowns.
Favorite Matchy-Matchy: Best Friends Bombers-via Gardnerandthegang. This mother-daughter pic made me smile. This may not be for everyday wear, but come on! I can already see Luna and I wearing them.
Favorite Recipe to try: Baked Brie with Figs, Walnuts & Ancho Chili Honey-via La Crema. As I mentioned above, I'm going to a Pinot Noir tasting party, if I win all the leftover pinot, I really want to pair it with this.  Plus, did you guys read this article from The New Yorker, Love The Fig.  It is so interesting!
Favorite Shoes: Pointed Toe Smoking Slipper -via Sole Society.   These are not for everyone or everyday, but they are so fun.  These would look awesome with rolled up boyfriend jeans and a tee or a dress, especially as we start transitioning into Fall.

Favorite Beauty: 10 Best Light Pink Nail Polishes -via StyleCaster.  I have been rockin' some bright nails, but now I am in the mood to chill out and go back to a pretty pink.
Favorite Song of the Week:  Rise by Katy Perry.  I just added this to my running playlist. The olympics video is so inspiring.

Yay, it's Fridayyyyy! My first order of business to share is my parents arrive today and will be visiting with us for a couple days.  You all know what that means...lots of mom & daughter time with my Mama, my husband and I will get a date night, Luna will get lots of extra lovin' from grandma & grandpa, and my birthday celebrations commence.  To say I am excited is an understatement!

Here are today's Friday Favorites and some Rob Base to get down.

Favorite Quote: Do Good (via Twamies etsy shop). Simply put.
Favorite Fall Outfit: Hunters, Cape & Stripes (via Kenguristyle). Yasssss!
Favorite Mother-Daughter:  Matching initial bracelets (via Minimal VS etsy shop) are so pretty. It would be great to buy one for grandma too! Shhhhh
Favorite Podcast: A Few Things with Claire and Erica, and most importantly this episode featuring Joanna Goddard from Cup of Jo!
Favorite DIY: Kitchen Herb Garden (via Bodhi Luxe). The home chef in me needs an herb garden pronto.
Favorite Funny: Elaine & her wine...I always tell people if I am going to have a cheat meal it will be wine.
Now get up and dance wherever you are because its Friday and  It takes Two
Have a great weekend!

This week must have been on turtle speed because I thought we would never make it to Friday. Tonight's plan is to relax, enjoy big bowls of spaghetti squash with chicken sausage, and catch up on some TV.  I am not sure what is on our DVR--hopefully something worth watching. Do you guys have any show recommendations?

The remainder of the weekend we will be in search of patio furniture. I cannot wait to have another place to hang out with Luna.  I am totally late to the party in discovering that toddlers can live in the backyard. Duh!

On Sunday we will be attending a Baptism and catching up with my husband's family. I am looking forward to having a nice weekend.

Here are today's favorites:

Favorite Spring Dress: Old Navy Striped Tank Dress is perfect to dress up or down, and it is super comfy.

Favorite Backyard inspo: Hot Tub!  I grew up with a hot tub in my backyard, and I have become obsessed with finding one on Craigslist, especially after reading this post. As a kid, our hot tub felt like a mini pool.  I would get to invite all my friends over for spa parties, and I have so many good memories.

Favorite Quote: Cash is How I Roll-Dave Ramsey. We have become cash only budget nerds, and I think it is something to be proud of! So this quote is on point.

Favorite Healthy trick: Broccoli Slaw has been part of my repertoire for awhile now, and these recipes are great. It is healthy, crunchy and yummy. Definitely worth a try!

Favorite Funny: Shoes Off  door mat made me laugh! I think I want it.

Favorite Matchy-Matchy: Converse. I recently purchased white converse at Kohl's for Luna and I. I am certain she is going to go bonkers over us having the same shoes.

Since I know you are as happy as I am that the weekend is here, lets make it outstanding!

Have a great weekend.

This week was pretty uneventful, but I will share I am proud of myself for sticking to my workout routine. I kinda love working out! Shhhhh don't tell

As for the weekend, I am attending an event at West Elm on Saturday which should be fun. We have tons to do around the house, but I can't promise it will get done. Instead, maybe a little fun in the sun with our Luna.

Now here are my Friday Favorites:

Favorite Skirt: Forever 21 Stripe Skirt which I have been wearing casually and dressed up. I believe mine is sold out, but this one is great too. I feel like these skirts are the perfect mommy skirts because they are stylish and have pockets! O hail the pockets!

Favorite quote: I will never be a morning person for the moon and I, are too much in love.-Christopher Poindexter. Well said. I am a night person and madly in love with my little moon girl.

Favorite Matchy-Matchy: Saltwater Sandals are on my shopping list for Luna and I because really...I can't help it!

Favorite Purse Scent: Elizabeth and James rollerball set. I think I am a late to jump on this bandwagon, but I am glad I did. They smell great, they are the perfect size, and you can mix them together for some scent layering.

Favorite Party food to try: Antipasto Salad Kabobs. These look so delicious! I know my husband would be all over these, and they would be great for parties.

Have a wonderful weekend! Now let's go on a Sweet Escape a la Gwen style (I will never stop being a So Cal girl).
